JR. PROJECT MANAGER – April 2024

Location: Lansdowne, Ontario (in office and designated project sites, as required. Position includes extended travel at times)

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 7AM to 4PM; 42.5 hours per week, additional hours and/or weekend work may be required.

Hourly range: $28 to $38 per hour, commensurate of experience; plus a comprehensive benefits package

  Junior Project Manager

Our team is comprised of over 60 dedicated staff with various backgrounds, but all who share a commitment to the Kehoe vision and our brand that is well-known and trusted in the Eastern Ontario area and beyond.

The Junior Project Manager will assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of various marine construction projects. Reporting to the Senior
Project Manager of Commercial Services; this position will regularly collaborate with key stakeholders, including liaising in the field on job
sites, and/or on boats/barges on water. The Junior Project Manager will be responsible for contributing to project scheduling, estimating, material
requisitioning, safety, and cost control.

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Planning:

·        Collaborate with senior project manager(s) to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Assist in creating comprehensive project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and budget estimates.

  1. Task
    Coordination and Execution
    :

·        Support the implementation of project plans by coordinating tasks and activities among team members. Monitor project progress and ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.

·        Follows the project plans and schedules and ensuring that the crew’s daily and weekly activities meet production goals.

·        Coordinates on-site subcontractors to effectively execute work in the field.

·        Plans ahead of the schedule to determine supplies and equipment requirements, coordinates in the most efficient manner in order to mitigate downtime

  1. Risk Management:

·         Identify potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery. Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.

  1. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

·        Facilitate communication among project team members and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key deliverables. Act as a point of contact for project-related inquiries and feedback.

·        Represents the organization in a professional and positive manner when in contact with stakeholders and/or clients.

  1. Documentation and Reporting:

·        Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, action items, and project schedules. Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and project sponsors.

·        Ensures accurate billings and timely payment from clients.

  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

·        Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to relevant regulatory requirements. Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.

·        Always ensures that work is conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.

·        Understands the financial expectations of the project and actively works / plans to control costs as necessary while ensuring quality work is completed.

  1. Team Collaboration and Support:

·        Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices. Provide guidance and assistance to team members as needed to ensure project success.

  1. Continuous Improvement:

·        Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives within the project management function, leveraging lessons learned and feedback to enhance project outcomes and efficiency.

·        Other duties as assigned.

       9.     Health and Safety:

 ·        Promotes a safe work culture, is accountable for the safety of the crew on their site as well as the public.

·        Knows, understands, communicates, and ensures compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and safety policies and procedures outlined by the company.

·        Completes incident and other safety reports in a timely manner.

·        Participates in company safety initiatives, including safety meetings and training, as requested.

Working Conditions

·        Works both in the office, and on construction sites in a marine environment

·        Standard workday hours (7:00am-4:00pm). Longer hours may be required periodically.

·        Exposure to all elements – summer heat, rain etc.

Qualifications

– Successful completion of a college or university program in a related field preferred

–  Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in project management, preferably in a construction environment OR four (4) + years experience in the field with progressive responsibilities.

–  Well versed in regulatory and industry standards

–  Estimating, surveying and field experience considered an asset.

–  Working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, surveying, project management and associated technologies (Trimble, AutoCAD, etc.)

–  Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project

–  Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification; or willingness to pursue is considered an asset.

–  Familiarity with quantity takeoffs and estimating deemed an asset.

–  Valid Class G drivers’ licence with clean driving record is required
